Theresa L. Kowal

SPENCER: Theresa L. (Cournoyer) Kowal,94, of Spencer, passed away peacefully, Monday, Sept. 1st. in her home. She was the wife of Roger E. Kowal who died in 2023. She leaves her sons; Robert Kowal and his wife Lori of Spencer and Stephen Kowal and his wife Deborah of Charlton, her daughter; Marcia Toomey and her husband Sean of Reading, her sister; Rosa Dionne and her husband Gilbert of Spencer, 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, many nieces & nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers; Leo, Raymond and Normand Cournoyer and a sister; Edna Latour.

Theresa was born in Spencer in 1930, the daughter of Wilfred and Celina (Jette) Cournoyer and later graduated from David Prouty High School in 1948 and Becker Junior College in 1950. She was an avid card player, enjoyed bingo and trips to the casino. More than anything else, Theresa enjoyed spending time with her family whom she loved dearly.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, Sept. 5th. from the J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. A calling hour will be held on Friday from 9:30 to 10:45a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Spencer Rescue Squad, 6 Bixby Rd., Spencer MA 01562.
