Theresa Marie Payne Pedley, 87, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026. She was surrounded by her loving family at The Heartford House –Hospice and Palliative Care in Owensboro. She was born May 13, 1938, in Knottsville to the late Ignatius Chester Payne, Sr., and Agnes Gerald Kennedy Payne. Theresa was a graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School and studied at Brescia College. She worked at General Electric, worked as a homemaker, and then worked as a Nursing Assistant at Owensboro Daviess County Hospital, where she retired. Theresa was a long-time member of Saints Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed being at church and devoutly attended her weekly holy hours. Her love of God and neighbor made everyone love her. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden, painting, and crafts. She deeply loved family get-togethers and being with her many grandkids, great-grandkids, and entire family.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Ruth Anna Cureton, Margaret C. “Todie” Foster, Mary Audeline Meffert, Joseph Anthony Payne, and Delores Rita Hartz.
Theresa is survived by her husband of 61 years, Bobby Eugene Pedley; her children - Rhonda Pedley (Daniel) of Nashville, TN; Chuck Pedley (Nannette) of Philpot; Connie McCarthy (Bob) of Owensboro; Cathy Pedley of Owensboro; 15 grandchildren – Justin, Ashley, Amber, Hannah, Andrew, Kelsey, Sarah, Michael, Megan, Jonathan, Bethany, Catherine, Katie, Kristin and Lucas; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ignatius C. Payne, Jr.; a sister, Rose Mary Bender; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass for Theresa will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Saints Joseph and Paul Catholic Church, with Father Mike Williams officiating. Burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3 until 7:00 p.m. with prayers at 6:30 p.m., and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to The Heartford House and Saints Joseph and Paul Catholic Church, both in Owensboro.
