St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, March 18, 2024 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Theresa Rena Thibodeaux, 95, who passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2024.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in St. Martinville on Monday, March 18, 2024 from 9:00 am to 10:45 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 am on Monday.
Father Bill Melancon will officiate at the funeral mass.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
Theresa Rena Dore Thibodeaux was born on April 20, 1928. She grew up in a close family with five siblings, Amor, Darrel, Irene, Marie, and Melvin on a sharecropping farm in Breaux Bridge, before moving to St. Martinville.
She married Clemey Thibodeaux after he returned from his service in World War II and together they raised two sons, Lonnie and Alfred. Theresa worked for years in a pepper factory and later in life as a nursing assistant in a nursing home in St. Martinville.
She was an unfailingly positive person, who was always supportive of her sons, family, and many friends. Her pride in her sons and two grandchildren, and two great grandsons was always evident.
An avid lover of country and Cajun music, she loved dancing weekly for much of her life. Sharing good food and cooking were also important to her.
Theresa will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Lonnie Thibodeaux (Janie) and Alfred "Al" Thibodeaux (Vickie); grandchildren, Joshua Thibodeaux (Lisa) and Ariel Thibodeaux; great-grandchildren, Logan Thibodeaux and Jackson Thibodeaux; brother, Melvin Dore'; sister, Marie Melancon.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clemey Joseph Thibodeaux; parents, Antoine and Lucille Laviolette Dore'; brothers, Darrel Dore' and Amor Dore'; and her sister, Irene Fuselier.
