Therese Julia Blizniak, 95, of Cohoes, NY, previously Buffalo, NY passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, in East Greenbush, NY.
Born on June 27, 1930 in Dunkirk, NY, Therese was the daughter of the late Edwin and Genevieve Wonchnicki (nee: Nowaczyk). She graduated from Villa Maria High School and married the late Louis Blizniak for 51 years. Therese, known to her family and friends as Terry, retired from the city of Buffalo Board of Education after nearly 30 years of service.
Terry was a very active and beloved member of the Corpus Christi Parish community where among other activities she served on the school PTA and sang in the choir for more than 30 years.
After the death of her spouse, Terry moved to Cohoes, NY to be near her daughter Paula and youngest granddaughter Anna. She continued to attend family events in and outside of New York State and more recently enjoyed spending some of the winter months in Florida with family. She joined St. Michael's Church in Cohoes being an active participant in the rosary society.
Terry is survived by her son Peter (Veronica), and daughters Paula (late Richard) Brewer and Clare Blizniak, her sister Rita (late Troy) Taylor, grandchildren Mark Moziak, Brian Moziak, Alex (Kathleen) Blizniak, Laura Blizniak, Allison (Chris) Jiongo and Anna Brewer, and great grandchildren Harper and Jonah Jiongo, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Friday, September 5, 2025 from 4 to 7pm at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd, Cohoes, NY.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 10:15 am from the funeral home and a Mass of Christian remembrance at Saint Michael's Catholic Church, 20 Page Ave, Cohoes, NY at 11 am.
Christian burial will be at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery in Buffalo, NY on Monday, September 8, 2025 at noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Community Hospice, Albany, NY and Corpus Christi Church, Buffalo, NY are appreciated.
