Therese Ann (Beichner) Galbraith, 85, of Brookville, PA, passed away during the early morning hours of Sunday, August 24, 2025, while a resident of Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor in Brookville.
She was born on September 12, 1939, in Shippenville, PA, to the late Martin A. and Rachel (Zagst) Beichner. Therese graduated from Keystone Area High School with the Class of 1957. In 1961, she began working at Brockway Glass, where she remained until her retirement in 2000. She also spent nearly two years with Cameron in Reynoldsville, welding television tubes and microscopic pieces.
On April 11, 1959, Therese married William A. "Bill" Galbraith in Fryburg, PA. They shared 32 years together before his passing in November of 1991.
Therese was a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Brookville, where she participated in the Catholic Daughters of America, the Altar and Rosary Society, and many parish activities. She also volunteered at the Jefferson Manor where she led the saying of the rosary for the residents. She was also involved in bowling leagues in the Brookville and DuBois areas, the Brookville Fireman's Club, and T.O.P.S. at the EUM Church in Brookville.
Therese especially loved to sew, specially creating Raggedy Ann and Andy doll sets that remain treasured keepsakes within her family. She also made quilts, purses, stockings, and delighted in teaching her nieces and nephews the craft. Her creativity was matched by her joy for music and dance, particularly square and line dancing at the Richardsville Community Center. Therese also had a love for travel and adventure. Her sister trip to Ireland held a special place in her heart, but she also cherished trips to Arizona, Hawaii, local excursions to Cook Forest and Clear Creek State Parks, and vacations where she could share her favorite destinations with family.
Family meant everything to Therese. She delighted in reunions, smaller gatherings with her siblings, and any time spent with her loved ones. Fondly known as "Aunt Granny," she held a special place in the hearts of many nieces and nephews and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by two brothers: Cletus "Pete" Beichner and Dennis Beichner; three sisters: Cecilia "Silk" Dougherty, Elizabeth "Betty" Slike, and Barbara Baughman; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her devoted companion of over 20 years, Jerry Shaffer.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers and their spouses: Bernard (Leona) Beichner, Gerald Beichner, Phillip Beichner, Edward (Patricia) Beichner, Martin Jr. (Agnes) Beichner, and Stephen (Sandra) Beichner; five sisters and their spouses: Rose (William) Slaughenhaupt, Dorothy (Bill) McGriffin, Agnes (Burnell) Winger, Adeline (Tom) Wolbert, and Mary (Fran) Baughman; three brothers-in-law: James Dougherty, Andy Slike, and Charles Baughman; and two sisters-in-law: Rita Beichner and Ruth Beichner.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the McKinney – d'Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 29, 2025, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 129 Graham Ave., Brookville, PA 15825, with Father William Laska officiating.
