Therese V. Langelier

Therese V. Langelier, known affectionately as Terry to her friends and family, passed away at the age of 89 on May 8, 2025, due to heart failure. Terry was a lifelong resident of Maine, born on January 22, 1936. She spent close to 75 years at 5 Genest Street in Lewiston but most recently resided at Frye School Apartments. Terry was the youngest of five children born to Odina and Marie (Carrier) Langelier. Her final days were spent surrounded by the compassionate care of the staff at Andwell Hospice House in Auburn. Terry was a graduate of Holy Family School, where she completed her education through the 8th grade. She carried the lessons of her formative years throughout her life, applying her work ethic and family values to everything she did. Her career was as diverse as it was dedicated, including crafting shoe boxes at Byrd & Son, serving customers at Shop n Save, and sharing laughter behind the deli counter at Bourque's Market alongside her sister, Simone. Family was the cornerstone of Terry's world. Though she never had children of her own, she was a cherished aunt, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter to her nieces and nephews. Her best friend, Lorraine, was a constant in her life, sharing in both joys and sorrows. Terry's home was made complete by the presence of her beloved cat, Emma, who provided companionship and comfort. Terry's interests were as varied as her professional life. She enjoyed cooking traditional French Canadian meals and was an avid reader who could always be found with a book in hand. Her dexterity extended to woodworking and puzzle making. Fishing was another passion, providing her the opportunity to teach the sport she loved so much. She loved dining out, enjoying the simple pleasure of good food in the company of friends. Those who knew her will remember her for her sense of humor. She had an uncanny ability to find the funny in any situation, and her laughter was infectious. Terry will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will be cherished, her stories retold, and her laughter will echo in the hearts of her loved ones forever. Terry is predeceased by her parents, brothers Bert and Richard (Helen) and sisters Simone Albert and Germaine Blanchette. She is survived by her sister in law Mary Langelier, brother in law Bob Blanchette and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, Sabattus St. Lewiston on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 11 AM followed by committal prayers in the large mausoleum of St. Peter's Cemetery also in Lewiston.
Donations can be made in her name to the animal rescue of your choice or Andwell Hospice House.
