Thomas Albrecht Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Waite Funeral Home Brunswick on Nov. 8, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Thomas Alan Albrecht, age 78, of Valley City, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025. Born on April 12, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio, Tom was the beloved son of the late Paul and Gertrude (Klabunde) Albrecht.

A true entrepreneur at heart, Tom spent his life building and running several successful businesses. After graduating from West Technical High School in 1965 he became a tool & die maker before getting into the gas station/vehicle repair business. He was a skilled master mechanic and the proud owner of Valley City Arco/Marathon & Valley City Radiator as well as Albrecht's Service Center in Brunswick for many years. A lifelong "car guy," Tom had a passion for drag racing and could fix just about anything with an engine. After retirement, Tom found joy on his back patio-meticulously watering and fertilizing his beautiful planters of wave petunias and tomato plants. He was also known by his family to be an expert at modifying devices around the house to improve his mobility.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elaine (Reinking) Albrecht; his children, Christine (Scott) Brinks, Matt (Renee) Albrecht, and Jim (Milena) Albrecht; his grandchildren: Valerie, Vanessa, Hunter, Victoria, Vince, Kathryn, and Anton; and great-grandchildren Milo and Raiden. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul Albrecht, Jr.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick, Ohio. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1377 Lester Road, Valley City, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Those attending are welcome to stay for a time of food and fellowship after the interment.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the many caregivers who supported Tom in recent years. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations made in Tom's name to the Hospice of Medina County, The American Red Cross or St Paul Lutheran Church in Valley City, Ohio.

"On the road again…" - Tom, forever in our hearts.
