James "Jim" Herman Albrecht was born September 2, 1936, in New Ulm to Hugo and Leona (Bleick) Albrecht. He was confirmed in 1950 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He attended country school, District 7, St. Paul's Lutheran grade school, and was a 1954 graduate from New Ulm High School. Jim was active in his local 4H and FFA organizations, showing his purebred Holstein cattle. After high school, he farmed in the Klossner area and continued showing his Holsteins winning many awards. He married the love of his life, Jeanne Harmening, on June 8, 1958, and together they continued to farm until the passing of his father. They later moved to New Ulm where he began his trucking career. Jim worked for Schugel Trucking for 33 years, retiring in 1999. He continued driving part time for J&R Schugel Trucking and Gary Aschenbrenner Trucking, and also helped his son-in-law farm. Jim enjoyed many years of camping and watching Vikings and Twins games. He also loved to watch his grandkids play baseball, softball, and hockey, as well as fish from the dock at the cabin on Lake Shetek, where you could also catch him napping. Another favorite of Jim's was going to breakfast to meet friends and trucking buddies. He always had a good trucking story to tell. Jim often bragged to his children and grandchildren that he bought Jeanne a box of candy every year on Valentine's Day. That added up to 67 years of chocolates-65 years of marriage, plus two years of dating! Jim will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Blessed be his memory.
