Barbara J. Asmus, age 87, of New Ulm died Friday, October 3, 2025 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.

Funeral service will be 11 AM Wednesday, October 8th, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Timothy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.

Visitation will be 4 – 7 PM Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Wednesday.

Barbara is survived by her; daughters, Julie (Paul) Fromm of Lino Lakes, Vicki (Tim) Drexler of Zumbrota; sons, Steven (Annette) Asmus of New Ulm, Gregg (Catherine) Asmus of Shakopee; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren with the 13th great grandchild expected in April; and by her brothers, Larry (Lois) Stoll, and Gayel (Sharon) Stoll, and many neices and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Theodore Asmus Jr; brother, Delbert Stoll; sister Shirley Kamm; brother-in-law Melvin Kamm; brother-in-law, Harold "Red" Maidl; sister-in-law Sharon Stoll, and sister-in-law Delilah Maidl.

Barbara J. Stoll was born October 31, 1937 to Herbert and Evelyn (Schroeder) Stoll in Hector, Minnesota. She graduated from Fairfax High School in 1955. She was united in marriage to Donald Laeffelmacher July 17th 1956. After the early death of Donny, she married the love of her life Theodore "Ted" Asmus Jr. on February 11, 1961 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. After marriage they resided in New Ulm. Barb worked at Hy-Vee for over 9 years. She also worked at Pamida, Randalls, and Cashwise foods. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. She enjoyed watching baseball and was a regular at Johnson field cheering on the New Ulm Brewers. She also loved rooting for the MN Twins. She could be found on Thursday evenings playing bingo at the legion. She also loved going to the casino, Friday night happy hour with her friends, and also enjoyed going to her coffee group Sunday mornings. She cherished her family and the time spent together. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her. Blessed be her memory.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorial to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice.
