Leo Waibel, age 91, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 2025 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.

An immediate family visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2025 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home-North Chapel in New Ulm. A private family inurnment will follow in the Catholic Cemetery Columbarium in New Ulm.

Leo is survived by his wife of over 67 years, Ruth Waibel; daughter, Cheryl (Ken) Clyne; son, Steven (Barb) Waibel; daughter-in-law, Deb Waibel; son-in-law, Randy Watson; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Patrin; brother, John (Marlys) Waibel; sister-in-law, Rita Waibel; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Brenda Watson; son, Larry Waibel; brothers, Tom (Sunday) Waibel, and Charles Waibel, Jr.

Leo Albert Waibel was born June 17, 1934 to Charles Sr. and Mary (Stadick) Waibel in New Ulm. He attended grade school at Sigel Township. Leo began his career with Wallner Construction. He then worked at various locations, like Schells Brewery and Kraft Foods until he retired in 1989. He then began working for the City of New Ulm and a few other locations in 1990 until he fully retired.

On June 5, 1957, Leo was united in marriage to Ruth Rewitzer. Their union was blessed with four children. In addition to being a husband and father, Leo also was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Knights of Columbus, and Saint Joseph Catholic Aid. In his free time, Leo loved playing cards and going to card clubs with his friends. He also enjoyed woodworking and socializing whenever possible.

Leo lived a full and happy life. He will be dearly missed by those that knew him. Blessed be his memory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Oak Hills Living Center, Allina Hospice, or donor's choice.
