Thomas John Algrim, beloved husband, father, grandfather, Army Veteran and Union Electrician, concluded his well lived life on September 15, 2024, at the age of 78.
Tom was born in Northlake, IL in 1946 and was the 2nd of seven rowdy boys born to John and Jean Algrim. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, daughter (Dana), and three of his brothers (Robert, Terry and Rick). Tom was an amazing man that lived a blessed life and was dedicated to his family, his country and his passions.
Tom met a beautiful woman by the name of Marjorie early in 1970 and they married six short months later on August 1, 1970. They recently celebrated 54 wonderful years together. They were blessed with three amazing children Dana, Dawn (Brian) and TJ (Monika) and 5 grandchildren, Kayla, Mason, Emma, Austin and Raylon.
Tom proudly served in the United States Army from December 1965 to December 1967 as a private, seeing combat in Vietnam. After his military service, Tom transitioned to a career as a Union Electrician. He was a respected member of the International Brotherhood of Electricians Local 701, where he worked diligently for 33 years until his retirement. His expertise and commitment to his craft earned him the admiration of his colleagues and the gratitude of those he helped and mentored along the way.
Tom and Marge bought their own little piece of paradise in the Lake of The Ozarks Missouri where they eventually retired. They enjoyed spending time together fishing, tootling around the lake on their boat or jet skis, enjoying the scenery and spending the summers swimming in the lake with their grandkids.
Tom had a deep love for vintage cars, specifically Chevrolets. He spent countless hours restoring and admiring classic automobiles, a hobby that brought him immense joy and connected him with a community and fellow enthusiasts.
A memorial luncheon for family and close friends will be held to honor Tom's life on Sunday, September 29 in Maple Park, IL.
Everyone who remembers him is asked to celebrate Tom's life in their own way donate to a worthy cause, raise a glass of their own favorite drink, do burn outs down the street, or just light off some fireworks.
Forever loved, forever missed.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges-Scott-Millard Funeral Homes, 1270 S Business Route 5, Camdenton, MO 65020 (573) 346-2090. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.hedgesscottmillard.com.
