Thomas Anderson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Metcalf Mortuary - St. George on Jan. 26, 2026.
I have now put on my last pair of running shoes and crossed the finish line into paradise, where I am greeting many family members and dear friends. A total surprise to me, I passed away as a result of pancreatic cancer at age 85 in St. George, Utah.

I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on April 20, 1940, to my parents Reed W. Anderson and Lillian Sorensen Anderson and was brother to Deanna Anderson Sleater and her husband Michael Sleater. I grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from South High School in 1958. While there, I ran track and was also a cheerleader for two years. On August 16, 1963, I married the "love of my life", Valerie Lloyd Anderson. We were married for 62 years. Valerie and I were blessed with three children and five grandchildren.

I was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served many church callings. For a profession, I spent that time as a sales representative for two food manufacturers and covered a four-state area. Early in the morning, for a good number of years, my wife Valerie and I, along with members of the neighborhood running group, could be seen running in the areas of Olympus Hills, Millcreek Canyon, and City Creek. I was always training for the next Saturday morning race.

To my friends, thank you for the memories. I am now on another adventure. To my loved ones, please take care of one another. I am now moving onward to finish this journey. To Valerie, don't forget to feed and brush my beloved kitty, Quiver.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Tom-details forthcoming.
