Thomas J. Arcari, 92, of Windsor, beloved husband of the late Donna (McDermott) Arcari, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025, in Hingham, MA. Born in Hartford, son of the late Thomas and Janet (Lapiano) Arcari, he graduated from the former John Fitch/Windsor High School. Tom was a lifelong resident of Windsor, he served his country as a S/SGT with the Connecticut Army National Guard Air Police during the Korean war period. After his service he went on to work as a Windsor Police officer, Inspector foreman at the Metropolitan Water District where he retired from around 1993. He sometimes worked 3 jobs to help support his family, he always found ways to give and help others in need, he made it his priority that his nieces, nephews, family and friends were taken care of, he donated cars, money and time as well his rare blood type to all those in need.
Dad had some great lifelong friends, we as kids learned so much from these great men and women (Dick and Bob Lawlor, Jim Blanchard, Bob Angelo, Dick Loomis their wives and many others) later on in life they would reminisce about all their fun times together at The Rod and Gun Club, trips to Newport RI, NH, Maine hunting fishing, snowmobiling and cooking, together they knew how to enjoy life and of course this was all over a few glasses of good scotch.
Our Dad loved to coach baseball basketball and other sports, he donated a lot of time to Windsors youth, when not coaching or parenting He loved to play tennis and golf. Tom was also an excellent woodworker and carpenter he built our house on Tobey Avenue along with our grandmother's cottage in old Lyme, he was incredibly talented and could fix or build anything.
He loved spending time with both his wife Donna McDermott's large family and his brothers Family, where we all enjoyed cookouts yard games and much more.
Tom leaves his daughter Deborah Hardey her partner Shawn Sweeney of Hingham MA; sons Stephen T. Arcari and his wife Lisa of Clinton and Brian F. Arcari and his wife Cynthia of North Tustin, CA; grandchildren Megan Lyons and her husband Steve, Lisa Sullivan and her husband Zachery, Jared, Alexis, and Lauren Arcari; great grandchildren Johnny, Cal, and Quinn Lyons and Sophie Sullivan, and a niece Susan Ryan and her husband Dennis. Besides his wife Donna and parents, he was predeceased by his brother Clement Arcari and nephew Richard Arcari.
For the last few years, it has been our dear Uncle Jim, Aunt Betty and Dad (the 3 musketeers) after losing our sweet Aunt and now Dad, it is our Uncle Jim with all his wisdom love and guidance to carry on for all of us, he is our savior
