Obituary published on Legacy.com by Roseboro Stradling Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. - Denver on Jan. 28, 2026.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our handsome father, Thomas (Tom) Barnhart, 92, who left this world on January 18th, just three days after the love of his life, Sibby, departed. Together, they shared over 65 years of marriage, a profound bond that will continue to inspire those who knew them.
Tom was a pillar of strength and spirituality for his family, embodying love and respect to all who came into his life. He began each day in quiet prayer, engaging with his worn Bible and devotional, nurturing his faith, and creating a legacy of love and guidance. Each evening, he recited "The Lord's Prayer" alongside Sibby, lifting prayers for their family, their country, and friends in need, truly reflecting the heart of a devoted servant.
A talented tenor, Tom had a passion for music, particularly the melodies of Mario Lanza. He was an active member of the choir and often took center stage as a featured soloist, delighting his family with his rendition of "I'll Walk with God," a mantra that resonated with his spirit.
As a woodworking hobbyist, Tom created numerous heirlooms for his children and grandchildren, each piece a testament to his love and craftsmanship. He especially enjoyed spending time with his son, Tommy, at the Sellers family cabin in Elk County, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Tom also had the honor of singing at the weddings of his beloved daughters, Julie and Peggy, filling those days with joy and love. Tom also enjoyed yearly trips to Chincoteague, Virginia first with his family, crabbing, clamming, and surf fishing, and later just he and Sibby enjoying their golden years together in their trailer, with time spent on Assateague Island Beach.
His grandchildren will remember him for his joyful laughter, wise counsel, and affectionate hugs. Tom's devotion to Sibby was unparalleled, and their love story continues in Heaven with their greatest love, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
For over 30 years, Tom and Sibby attended LEFC, where he led many small groups and nurtured the faith of countless individuals. Tom was also a passionate fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, known for his lively cheers and spirited debates about the game's calls.
Though words cannot express the depth of our sorrow at his passing, we take comfort in the memories of him dancing cheek-to-cheek with Sibby, his tenor voice filling the air, and the warmth of his loving embrace. While he will be deeply missed, we find solace in knowing that he is now rejoicing with Jesus and that we will all meet again at the Gate of Judah in Heaven. We believe that truly when seeing Jesus face-to-face, Daddy's sight restored, he heard these words, "Well done good and faithful servant!".
We love you, Daddy.
He was born in Waynesboro, son of the late Charles E. and Nora (Frank) Barnhart and was the husband of Sylvia S. who he married on June 26, 1960, and preceded him in death just three days prior on January 15, 2026; children Julie Burns and her husband John of
