Thomas M. Belton of Springfield, MA departed this life on February 2, 2026 surround by his three children. He was born on August 12,1947. Thomas was the patriarch of the Belton/Brightwell family.

He was a lifelong resident of Springfield and a lifelong member of St. Johns Church of Springfield, MA. Inspired by his brother Earl "Duke" Belton Thomas honorably served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. Thomas was wounded during the war in which he was honored to receive the Purple Heart Award.

Thomas served as the Director of Veterans Services for the city of Springfield.

Thomas is survived by his three children, Marcus D. Belton (Patrice), Allyce E. Pfaff (Theodore) and Thomas M. Belton Jr. (Hailey). He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Marcus D. Belton Jr., Makalia Belton, Lillyana J. Pfaff, Thomas M. "Theo" Belton III, Nelly Belton and two brothers, Craig Belton, James Brightwell, three sisters, Pearl I. Belton, Marva Craigwell, Mary Brightwell and his life long childhood best friend, and fellow Marine Thomas "Heywood" Hodge as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Thomas was predeceased by his parents, Sam Brightwell and Rose V. (Binn) Belton along his wife June A. "Sissy" (Woodley) Belton who passed away in 2011 as well as his sisters, Louise Cicero, Betty Belton, Rose Tavernier and brothers, Richard D. Belton, Earl P. "Duke" Belton, Percy R. Belton and David A. "Tiny" Brightwell.

Flowers to be delivered to St. Johns Church the day of the service.

Thomas children would like to thank everyone for their prayers, kind words and condolences during this difficult time.
