Thomas Bogan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Old Bridge Funeral Home on Feb. 22, 2024.
Thomas Bogan, a cherished family man, respected former New York City Police Officer, and proud veteran of the United States Navy, passed away on February 20, 2024, in Old Bridge, New Jersey. Born on July 29, 1936, in Brooklyn, NY, Thomas lived a full and honorable life, marked by dedication to his country and loved ones.
Thomas was born to Francis and Margaret (Breen) Bogan. He resided in Brooklyn for 77 years before settling in Marlboro, NJ 10 years ago.
Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Joan (Duff) Bogan, with whom he built a life filled with love and mutual respect. He was a guiding light to his children, Thomas Bogan and his wife Sue, and his daughter Kelly Kotropoulos and her husband Peter. His legacy continues through his six adoring grandchildren, Janna, Morgan, Sean, Daniel, Stephanie, and Nikki, who will forever cherish the memories and lessons he imparted.
From 1954 to 1958, Thomas honorably served in the United States Navy, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of discipline and patriotism that he carried throughout his days. After his active duty, he continued to serve in the reserves, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his country.
Following his military service, Thomas joined the New York City Police Department, where he dedicated 20 years to protecting and serving the citizens of New York. His courage, integrity, and sense of justice earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the community he served.
An avid golfer and Bacci ball player, Thomas could often be found on the green or playing a friendly match with friends and family. Trips to Atlantic City were a favored pastime, where he enjoyed the thrill of the slot machines and the company of his loved ones.
Above all, Thomas adored his grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them. Whether it was attending their sporting events, sharing stories of his life, or simply being present for the everyday moments, he was a constant source of love and support.
He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 11:00am to 12:30pm with a funeral service beginning at 12:30pm at Old Bridge Funeral Home, 2350 RT 516, Old Bridge, NJ 08857.
