Wolfeboro--Thomas John Boyle, 83 of Wolfeboro, NH passed away peacefully May 16, 2025, at Harmony Homes By the Bay Nursing Home in Durham, NH.
Born in Springfield, MA on January 8, 1942 Tom was raised by his grandmother, Florence Boyle in New Bedford, MA. He later joined the United States Army where he served at Fort Devens, MA. He was later transferred to Hanau, a city in Hesse, Germany at the Hanau Army Airfield also known as Fliegerhorst Army Airfield. His last transfer was to Fort Slocum, NY where he was honorably discharged in July 1966. While in NY, he met his wife, Dorothy Marie Boyle, and they were married January 30, 1965 and resided in Eastchester, NY. After the army, Tom made his career working for the Gannett News until his retirement in 2006. He and Dorothy moved to their home in Wolfeboro where they enjoyed their retirement years.
During his younger years in Eastchester, Tom volunteered as a fireman for the North End Fire Department for over 20 years and held notable positions as President and Captain during his service to the community.
Anyone who knew Tom knew that he loved fishing. He would fish on the charter boats out of New Rochelle, NY. He later fished off the shores of Norwalk, CT on his beloved boat "The Happy Hooker". When he made his way to New Hampshire, he religiously went fishing out of Seabrook, NH on the Eastman's fishing fleet. During his "lifetime" of fishing, he developed close lasting friendships and was known fondly as "Tommy Cigar". Tom was known for his generosity, kindness and sense of humor.
Tom's wife Dorothy predeceased him in 2024. He is survived by his brother-in-law Rocco Rescigno, Jr., of Vonore, TN and his sisters-in-law Beatrice Kilgallon, of Wolfeboro, NH and Audrey Palerino, of Delray Beach, FL and his many nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 12:00pm-2:00pm at Baker-Gagne Funeral Home, 85 Mill Street, Wolfeboro, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom's memory may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
