Coral Gables, Florida - Dr. Thomas Vincent Briggle, 70, Coral Gables, FL
Passed away on 12/11/22 after a short illness. Thomas, a native of Coral Gables, graduated from Christopher Columbus High School, then attended Mount Union College, Alliance, Ohio with a B.S. Degree. He continued his education at the University of Miami receiving his Masters and Doctorate in Biochemistry. After completing his training he began employment at the University at the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, Miller School of Medicine. His passion was science research where he was an integral part of the team that developed numerous chemotherapeutic agents especially Zebularine and Cytochlor. After many years Tom left academia for private business, working for USA Medical Services as Medical Director. He went on to create Sanus Health Corporation becoming its Owner and President, located in Doral, Fl. He remained in this position until his passing. He also remained on staff at UM Medical School. Tom was a member of Sigma X Scientific Research Society, and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Division of Cell Growth. Tom was a lifelong member of the Riviera Country Club. One of his favorite pastimes was his hobby of playing the bass guitar. He perfected his skills and played in multiple local rock and roll bands, namely "Deck 52" and "Geezer"! He also had a special spot in his heart for animals, especially his cats. His parents Dr. Homer and Helen Briggle predeceased him. Tom is survived by his wife of 25 years, Anastasia Webster Briggle, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Tom was an outstanding member of the community and will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held Thursday evening 12/15/22, 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Van Orsdel Coral Gables Chapel 4600 SW 8th Street. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday 12/16/22 at 1:00 PM, St. Augustine Catholic Church, 1400 Miller Road, Coral Gables, FL 33146. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Humane Society of Greater Miami-Dade County, Chapter 16101 W. Dixie Hwy. North Miami Beach, Fl, 33160.

As I sit here at my desk, I just learned of my very good college friend's passing. I am very sorrowful and wish to convey my very deepest sympathies to his family. Tom and I had lost contact with each other after graduation and professional lives and earning a living became life's priority for a while. I last talked with Tom, perhaps 25 years ago. Although I grew up in a small town in southeastern Ohio, I am originally from Miami, Florida! As Tom and I got to know each other at Mount Union College, we discussed a lot about our Miami connections and our mutual Polish Heritages. I visited Tom's home in Coral Gables several times and met his parents. Tom also visited my St. Clairsville, Ohio home and farm several times. Interestingly, Tom's father also knew people from St. Clairsville, Ohio. Tom and I also played in an old 50's rock and roll "Sha na na" band during our college years. We were really good friends during those college days! We traveled quite a few places in Tom's 911 porche. I attempted to contact Tom several times through alumni channels when I passed through Florida on business trips, but was not successful! Darn it!. Just three or four days ago I thought about contacting Tom again, then I learned of his passing through the Mount Union College Alumni Bulletin! I have missed Tom for quite a while and now I shall miss him much more! I am deeply grieved by Tom's passing. Perhaps, I shall meet Tom again and we will talk of the old days! My deepest regards to all of Tom's family!

Dear Stacy, It was such a pleasure to see you and Tom last year. I am so very sad to find out that a short time after we ran into you that you would loose Tom? My thoughts and prayers are with you and the Briggle family. May God hold you in his loving arms.
