Dr. Thomas Jude Brzustowicz was born on August 8, 1953 in New York, New York to Dr. Stanislaw and Wanda Brzustowicz. He is survived by his wife of forty-six years Joan Maroney Brzustowicz; his brothers Dr. Robert Brustowicz and wife Barbara, Micah O'Halloran and wife Mary Beth; and his sister Dr. Linda Brzustowicz. He is also survived by his nephew and five nieces, and his five beloved godchildren.
Tom graduated valedictorian from Adelphi University in New York, received his masters in biomedical engineering and his doctorate in electrical engineering from Rice University. He worked on several aspects of the Space Station during his career and was the architect of the software for the robot training arm of the International Space Station which is used by the astronauts to this day. He formed his own company, had several inventions and was a proud patent-holder.
Tom was a long-time member of Holy Catholic Rosary Church in Houston, Texas and belonged to the Third Order of St. Dominic.
A vigil and rosary will be held at Annunciation Catholic Church, 1618 Texas Avenue, Houston, Texas 77003, on October 29, 2024 at 1:30 p.m., followed immediately by the Holy Mass. A reception will be held at the Foley House on the church grounds after Mass. Interment will be on October 30, 2024 at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in Tom's memory may do so to the Monastery of the Infant Jesus, 1501 Lotus Lane, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
