Thomas C. Burkard

Thomas C. Burkard, 76, of Bristol, died on Sunday (January 11, 2026) at the Curtis Home in Meriden.

Tom was born on October 15, 1949, in Sheboygan, WI and was a son of the late Jerome and Mary Ann (Schaub) Burkard.

He was raised and attended school in Wisconsin. After high school, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin where he earned his bachelor's degree. He was a proud veteran and served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam War.

Tom worked as a bus driver for Greyhound for many years before his retirement. He moved to Bristol in 2021 to be close to his family where he was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Parish devoted to St. Anthony Church, Bristol.

Tom is survived by his son: Nicholas Burkard and his wife, Teresa of Bristol; three siblings: Diane Bruder, Carol Burkard and John Burkard; six grandchildren: Dominic, Mark, George, Paul, Madeleine and Mariana; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother: Jim Burkard.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday (January 15, 2026) at 12:30 PM at St. Anthony Church, 111 School St., Bristol. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Connecticut State Veteran's Cemetery, 317 Bow Ln., Middletown. There are no calling hours.
