Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Patty Crowl Burkett; his son, Thomas Tolbert Burkett (Buddy) and his wife Kristy Burkett; his stepchildren, Kelly Howell Berkhan, her husband Thomas, and Steven Clarke Howell and his wife Sarah; and his five cherished grandsons, Alex Burkett, Andrew Burkett, Thomas Berkhan, Charlie Howell, and Sam Howell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lionel Victor Burkett Jr. and Virginia Kittrell Burkett.
A proud graduate of the University of Arkansas with a degree in Business, Thomas dedicated over 40 years of his career as Corporate Credit Manager for Seabrook Wallcoverings Inc. Beyond his professional achievements, he was an avid fly fisherman and nature enthusiast, finding solace and joy in the outdoors. His passion for travel took him to many remarkable places, though the fly fishing rivers and streams were his absolute favorite. He was also an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 410, Boy Scouts of America, for many years. His greatest passion was being a devoted grandfather to his five grandsons. Thomas also served as past President of the Mid South Fly Fishing Club and was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church most recently as a member at Trinity United Methodist Church in Huntsville, Alabama.
A celebration of Thomas's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, located at 480 S Highland St, Memphis, TN 38111. Visitation will take place from noon to 1:00 PM prior to the service with a reception immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Thomas's memory.
Thomas's legacy of love, adventure, and devotion to his family and community will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
