Thomas C. Hanley

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas C. Hanley (87), who departed this life on November 9, 2025. Born on October 9, 1938, in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of New York City, NY to the late Anna Marie (Regan) Hanley, Tom lived in NY for most of his early childhood prior to relocating to Manchester, NH, and eventually Goffstown, NH.

He is survived by his loving wife Eileen (Clayton) Hanley of sixty-seven years. His five children, Thomas and his wife Louise (Boucher), Shane, William, Peter, Erin and her husband Thomas Rodakis, and his brother Connie. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Jane and Margaret. He was the grandfather of ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

After graduating from Manchester West High School, he worked as a skilled mason. He changed careers and worked for the City of Manchester School Department for thirty-five years until his retirement at age seventy.

He was a veteran of the NH National Guard.

He was an avid duck hunter, who loved the Great Bay and McIntosh Island in NH where he hunted every year during hunting season. He volunteered with the NH Fish and Game counting and banding migratory birds. He was one of the founders of the NH Waterfowl Association and the NH Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. Fishing was also his passion that he shared with his grandchildren.

For many years he was involved with Southwest Little League, he volunteered as an umpire, coach, and eventually took on the role of President. He and his masonry friends built the canteen building at the field.

He had a love of all sports, especially football, the NY Giants were his favorite team.

In celebration of his life, family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance on November 21, 2025, at the Puritan Backroom, Pappas/Canotas Room beginning at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on his behalf to the American Diabetes Association.
