Thomas "Tom" Eugene Calamia, Jr., a loving husband, devoted father, and cherished friend, died on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the age of 59 after a courageous battle with ALS.
Born on October 10, 1965, in Hammond, Louisiana, the son of the late Thomas Eugene Calamia, Sr. and Leona Ferrara Calamia. Tom lived a life filled with passion, commitment, and joy, leaving a legacy that will be celebrated by all who knew him.
After earning his CPA, Tom began his career with The Shaw Group, in Louisiana. He then moved his family to South Carolina to work for BF Shaw in Laurens, eventually becoming Divisional CFO. Later, he developed Achieve Business Management, where he was a virtual CFO for many clients around the world. His leadership and vision in business management consulting were matched only by his integrity and dedication to those around him.
A man of deep faith, Tom was an active member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church and School, where he served not only as an usher but also as a basketball coach and Cub Scout leader. His devotion to his Catholic faith was evident in all facets of his life, embodying values of love and service.
Tom was an avid LSU football enthusiast and a remarkable triathlete, famously competing in multiple Ironman competitions, demonstrating his commitment and endurance. He enjoyed annual summer trips to Wyoming with his buddies for fly fishing, and he cherished his lifelong friendships, especially with his Delta Tau Delta fraternity brothers.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Robin Calamia; their three sons: Thomas Eugene Calamia, III, Joseph Samuel Calamia, and Christopher Jordan Calamia; his sister, Julie Calamia Vosbein (Gregory) and his brother, Gregory Calamia (Dari); his beloved Golden Retriever, Roux, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and family, who mourn his passing.
A Rosary will take place at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast, on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., followed by a time of visitation until 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church and School, 3710 Augusta Road, Greenville, SC 29605, or to Tunnel to Towers.
