Thomas Cantu Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Casey & Rios Funeral Home on Feb. 25, 2026.
In Loving Memory of Thomas Cantu III

December 1, 1999 – February 22, 2026

With heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of Thomas Cantu III, who left this world far too soon at the age of 26. Thomas was a bright light in every life he touched-a soul defined by kindness, humility, laughter, and a heart big enough to hold everyone he loved. He was a born leader, always stepping forward to guide, support, and protect those who needed it most. His warmth, humor, and spontaneous spirit made every moment with him memorable, and his presence could lift even the heaviest hearts.

Thomas's greatest joy are his children, Isaiah Cantu and Ailani Cantu. He poured his heart into being their father,

delighting in every laugh, every hug, and every tiny adventure. Watching them grow and discover the world brought him endless happiness, and his love for them was boundless and unwavering.

Thomas deeply loved his father, Thomas Cantu Jr., and sought his guidance and affection throughout his life. Their bond, full of shared memories, laughter, basketball, and mutual respect, was a constant source of strength and inspiration for him.

Above all, Thomas shared an unshakable bond with his mother, Mary Puma. She was his best friend, confidante, and safe harbor. Their laughter, quiet moments, and inside jokes were treasures that filled his life with joy and comfort.

Thomas also shared a profound love with Alexa Talavera, the love of his life. Their connection was tender, joyful, and steadfast. Together, they shared laughter, support, and a love that reflected all the warmth, generosity, and kindness that Thomas carried in his soul.

He had a playful spirit and many passions that brought him joy. Music was a constant source of delight, filling his world with rhythm and emotion. He also loved video games, finding laughter and connection in every shared adventure. Whether sharing a song or enjoying a game with friends and family, he brought energy, curiosity, and joy to everything he loved.

Thomas is survived by his mother, Mary Puma, father, Thomas Cantu Jr., step-parents Saul Aquino and Rima Cantu,

siblings Julian Puma, Yazmine Cantu, Jalen Cantu, and Raenen Cantu, grandparents Daniel and Rosa Puma, Beatrice Beltran, and Thomas Cantu Sr., and a large circle of aunts, uncles, and cousins who cherished and loved him deeply. Each of them carries a piece of him, his laughter, light, and loving spirit in their hearts.

Though his time with us was heartbreakingly brief, Thomas taught everyone around him to laugh freely, love fully, and embrace life with humility and joy. His natural leadership, compassion, and unwavering love for his family inspired those around him to be better, kinder, and braver. His memory is a gift-a reminder that even the briefest life, when lived with courage, kindness, love, music, laughter, and play, can leave the world

immeasurably brighter. He is missed and loved imcomfortedmensely by all who knew him.

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be ." - Matthew 5:4
