In Loving Memory of Beatriz Cantu
Beatriz Cantu, born August 18, 1952, passed away peacefully on February 12 at the age of 73, surrounded by the love of her family, after a courageous three-year battle with ALS.

Born with a nurturing spirit and a generous heart, Beatriz devoted her life to caring for others. She began her career as a nurse in Mexico, where she compassionately served her community. After moving to the United States, she continued her life's calling in a different but equally meaningful way - by running a daycare from her home. For many years, she lovingly cared for children of all ages, from three-month-old babies to energetic teenagers during the summer months. To Beatriz, every child was a blessing, and she cherished the laughter and joy they brought into her life.

Beatriz found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed watching her favorite telenovelas and home repair shows, often sharing commentary and laughter with those around her. Her greatest joy, however, was time spent with family - especially her beloved sisters and brother. Whether gathered around a table playing Lotería or enjoying other games, she treasured those moments of connection and togetherness.

Beatriz is reunited in eternal peace with her beloved husband, Guillermo Cantu, who preceded her in death two years ago, as well as with her parents, Jose and Elvira Torres. Though her passing leaves a profound void, her love and legacy live on through her family: her daughter Tania Stockbridge and son-in-law Matthew Stockbridge; her son Rene Trejo; her stepdaughters, Melinda Cantu and Melissa Cantu; and her five sisters and one brother, whom she cherished deeply.

Beatriz will be remembered for her strength, her unwavering devotion to family, and the countless lives she touched through her care and kindness. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 27, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Castillo Funeral Home - 520 N General McMullen Drive, with a celebration of life dinner reception to follow at the home of Jorge and Maria Reynaga.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends and loved ones consider making a donation to help fund a cure for ALS through The ALS Association (https://www.als.org/).

Beatriz Cantu, nacida el 18 de agosto de 1952, falleció en paz el 12 de febrero a la edad de 73 años, rodeada del amor de su familia, después de una valiente batalla de tres años contra la enfermedad ALS.

Nacida con un espíritu bondadoso y un corazón generoso, Beatriz dedicó su vida al cuidado de los demás. Comenzó su carrera como enfermera en México, donde sirvió con compasión a su comunidad. Después de mudarse a los Estados Unidos, continuó con el llamado de su vida de una manera diferente pero igualmente significativa: administrando una guardería desde su hogar. Durante muchos años, cuidó con amor a niños de todas las edades, desde bebés de tres meses hasta adolescentes llenos de energía durante los meses de verano. Para Beatriz, cada niño era una bendición, y atesoraba la risa y la alegría que traían a su vida.

Beatriz encontraba felicidad en los placeres sencillos de la vida. Disfrutaba ver sus telenovelas favoritas y programas de mejoras del hogar, a menudo compartiendo comentarios y risas con quienes la rodeaban. Beatriz se reúne en la paz eterna con su amado esposo, Guillermo Cantu, quien la precedió en la muerte hace dos años, y con sus padres, José y Elvira Torres. Aunque su partida deja un profundo vacío, su amor y legado continúan a través de su familia: su hija Tania Stockbridge y su yerno Matthew Stockbridge; su hijo Rene Trejo; sus hijastras, Melinda Cantu y Melissa Cantu; y sus cinco hermanas y un hermano, a quienes amaba profundamente.

Beatriz será recordada por su fuerza, su devoción a la familia y por las innumerables vidas que tocó con su cuidado y bondad. Su memoria permanecerá para siempre en los corazones de quienes la conocieron y la amaron.
