Pastor Annickattu Thomas Chacko (Chackochan) was born on April 30, 1931 in Kurianoor to Annamma Thomas and Varkey Thomas. He spent his childhood in Konni and was the youngest of ten children. At a young age, he showed an interest in preaching the word of God and pastoral ministry. In fact, his future mother-in-law was at one of his sermons and was inspired by his knowledge of the word and his passion, so she approached him with a marriage proposal afterwards.
Pr. Thomas Chacko wed Aleyamma Abraham (Kunjamma) in 1953. They attended seminary together and he served faithfully as a pastor in several cities in Kerala for ten years beginning in Malabar City. They also had 3 children Ann (Valsamma), Alice (Babymol) and Sam. In 1962, with the help of his brother-in-law, Abraham Mathai, he travelled to the United States using a student visa. The journey took one month's time via ship. In the US, he studied at Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, Illinois where he graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Philosophy. After graduating from college, he began working at WABCO Tractor company in Peoria, Illinois for over 10 years. In 1972, Pastor Thomas received a permanent visa and helped bring his wife and son to the US. Then two years later, he brought his two daughters also. He retired and moved to Seattle in the 1980s with his daughter Alice, where he also pastored occasionally. He then moved to Texas in 2002 to be with his son Sam and daughter Ann. During his retirement, he spent his time doing what he loved most, studying the word of God and tending to his vegetable and fruit garden.
On March 2nd, 2025, Pastor Thomas was called home to be with the Lord. His wife Aleyamma Chacko returned home on June 19th, 2021. He is survived by his 3 children Ann Kurian, Alice Paoletti, and Sam Chacko. Son in laws: Joseph Kurian, Ken Paoletti and daughter-in-law Judy Chacko. His grandchildren include: Marsha, Esther, Isaac, Jensine, Christine, Benjamin, Deborah, Zoe, Bejoy and one great grandchild Silas.
Pastor Thomas Chacko lived a long and fulfilled life. He will be missed and we are grateful for his life.
