Thomas William Champagny, 85 of State Street, North Adams, MA. died Friday December 12, 2025 at his home with his daughter by his side.
He was born in Worcester, MA. on October 19, 1940 a son of the William and Margaret (Hicks) Champagny. Thomas attended schools in North Adams, MA. and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1958. He was a member of the Massachusetts National Guard for several years.
Thomas was a hard working and skilled welder for the Iron Worker Union #12 in Latham, NY from 1969 to 1990. He also was the owner and operator of the former Champ's Place on Union Street in North Adams, MA. He was a great father and enjoyed summer picnics and swimming. He was known as the Mayor of State Street.
Survivors include his loving and devoted daughter Karen Ann Cook, daughter Christine (Gilly) Trammell, son Jonathan Gancarz and Zachary Cellana who he thought of as a son. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Lynn Elizabeth Morris who died December 31, 2005.
Calling Hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home, CENTRAL CHAPELS, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA. are Friday December 19, 2025 from 4pm to 6pm. A celebration of his life will take place on Sunday December 21, 2025 from 11:30- 2:00 PM at Key West Lounge, 159 State St. North Adams, MA.
