Thomas Edward Chapman

Thomas Edward Chapman, 81 of North Bend, NE. Tom was born on February 19, 1940 in Dodge, NE to Luke and Mabel (Foy) Chapman and died July 15, 2021. Tom attended North Bend rural grade schools, St. Patrick High School in Fremont and graduated from North Bend High School in 1958.
Following High School Tom worked for the Dodge County ASCS office for two years and then the US Department of Agriculture for seven years. On July 16, 1966, Tom married Patricia Draper at St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend, where they have been members of the parish their entire life. Tom farmed and milked registered Guernsey cows most of his life. In 1995 he went to work for Smeal Fire Apparatus, where he stayed until his retirement in 2011.
Tom was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3736 of North Bend and the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree council #2071 of Fremont. He was a 4-H leader for several years helping to share his love for dairy cattle and agriculture. Tom was a member of the Nebraska Guernsey Breeders Association, Nebraska Dairy Association, he also judged many youth dairy shows throughout the state. Tom also enjoyed playing in the local men's fastpitch softball league.
He was preceded in death by his parents Luke and Mabel, brothers: infant Gerald, James Chapman, sister Mary Catherine Ulrich of West Pointincoln, parents-in-law James R. and Lois Draper, sister-in-law Judy Chapman, Melvern Ulrich and infant granddaughter Josie Rae Chapman.
Tom is survived by his wife Patricia of 55 years, 6 children, 21 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren including: Terry (Janel) Chapman of North Bend, NE, Wyatt (Jade), & Josephine Chapman, Cassidy (Bret Yeggy), and Dakota (Conner Buss); Kris (Steward) Spath of Eagle, NE, Alexis (Trae) & Ava Ramer, and Trevor Spath; Doug (Kathy) Chapman of St Joseph, MO, Makenzie Helsel (Josh Wagner), Madison Helsel and Gabby Chapman; Bill (Kelly) Chapman of Denton, NE, Lauren, Jack, and Molly Chapman; Kelly (Scott) Neal of Lincoln, NE, Shelby (Ryan), Remi & Ruby Schelbitzki, Riley (Erin) Neal, Megan, Thomas, Sean, James and Martin Neal; Tom (Tiffany) Chapman of Bancroft, NE, Samantha, Xander & Melody Chapman. Tom is also survived by many treasured nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 AM, Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at S.t Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in North Bend, NE. Visitation at the church isTuesday, July 20, 2021 from 4-7 PM, a Rosary will begin at 7 PM. Burial in Woodland Cemtery following the mass.
