Thomas R. Cole, 74, of Logansport, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
Born on January 21, 1949, in Covington, Kentucky, Tom is the son of the late William Cole Sr. and Rutha (Turner) Cole. On April 13, 1979, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Tom married Gillea Myers who survives.
Thomas was a 27.5 year Veteran of the United States Army. He also worked as a coiler for Matthew Warren (formerly Rockwell) for 40.5 years.
Tom was a sports enthusiast and a dedicated Kentucky basketball fan. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, traveling on his gold wing motorcycle, woodworking, especially when it came to creating things for his wife’s business Breezy Willow Design. Most important to Tom though was the time he spent with his family.
Surviving along with his wife Gillea, is a daughter, Kimberly Isaak; two sons, Zayne (Kelly) Cole of Auburn, IN; Mark A. (Stephanie) Bender of Logansport; eight grandchildren, Alexys Bender, Chloe Bender, Elaine Frank, Zaydon Bender, Oliver Isaak, Paisley Cole, Corallea Cole and Crew Cole three brothers, Homer Cole of Logansport; Roger Cole of Kokomo; Ronnie Cole of Covington, KY; two sisters, Hallie Hall of Newport, KY; Connie (Jeff) Appleton of Logansport.
Thomas was preceded in death by, a son, Israel Drien Cole, and a brother William Cole Jr.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Weil officiating. Burial, with full Military Graveside Rites will follow in the Center Cemetery, Young America.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Monday, August 14, 2023, also in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Indiana Veterans Home in West Lafayette. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
