I want to express some of my memories and feelings about my Uncle Tom as he passed away peacefully on January 31, 2026. He was a wonderful example of family-focused diligence and someone I truly looked up to.

Growing up, I have fond memories of visiting my cousins and playing in their backyard. As I recall, the yard was filled with apple, cherry, and apricot trees, and I know Uncle Tom was instrumental in creating and maintaining such a productive space. He was an expert at pruning fruit trees to ensure the best yield. I loved eating that delicious fruit when it was ripe.

I also recall visiting his shop, Tom's Auto Service Center, where he worked for decades as a steady provider for his family. Even after a battery explosion damaged one of his eyes, he continued through life with remarkable resilience and capability.

Uncle Tom was incredibly generous and kind. I still remember when your family let our family borrow your car and trailer for a trip to California. Though we had some trouble with the trailer jack once we arrived, your willingness to help us enjoy that trip is something I will always cherish.

Tom's dedication extended to his faith as well. Whenever we visited and attended church with your family, I observed how diligently he served in his various ward callings. Even in his later years, I remember how he would never hesitate to kneel with Barbara for morning or evening prayer, offering heartfelt gratitude and pleadings to the Lord.

I admire that Barbara and he and served several missions for the church. Their example has been a catalyst for my wife and me to serve a mission as well.

I know the Lord will continue to use Tom's skills and unwavering dedication on the other side of the veil.

With great love and appreciation for Tom's dedicated life,

Ron Chapman
