Tom was born in New Britain on May 16, 1955, the son of Joseph and Carol (LeHoskey) Costa. He graduated from Churchville-Chili High School in New York in 1973 and attended Tunxis Community College after returning to CT.
He had careers in both the automotive industry as an F&I Manager and as a corrections officer for the State of CT. He was also a real estate agent.
His pride and joy were his two sons and his two granddaughters. He coached baseball for many years while his boys were growing up, and taught them a lot about sportsmanship. Besides family, Tom had a great interest in cars and airplanes. He not only bought cars, frequently, but taught the boys a lot about fixing cars, building engines, and worked with them on ice racing cars. He attended many airshows, especially in later life. He was a member of the Torrington Fish and Game Club, serving as its president for several years.
Tom is survived by his mother, Carol; his sons, Stephen and David; granddaughters, Raelyn and Evelyn; siblings, Don (Cathy), Cherie, and Ed (Karen); and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his former wife and mother of their children, Wendy. He was predeceased by, and is now reunited with, his father Joseph.
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, November 23, 2025 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 South Main Street, Cheshire, CT.
