Thomas Elmer Crye, 88 of Cleveland, TN passed away Monday, March 4th, 2024.
Elmer was born in McMinn County, TN but spent most of his life in the Cleveland area. He was a dedicated member of the East Side Church of Christ in Cleveland and retired after 46 years of service with Brown Stove Works. Elmer spent most of his free time outside in his garden and greatly enjoyed taking care of his flowers and vegetables. He was often seen playing with his beloved dog, Sammy Jo. Elmer was very friendly, had a great sense of humor, and will be most remembered as a good Christian man. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, David and Dessie Crye; siblings: Richard Crye, Sue Stewart, Vernie Anderson, and Mary Tallent.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Ruth Crye; daughter, Kathy (Eddie) Carson; grandchildren, Andrew (Allison) Carson and Natalie (Taylor) McCracken; great grandchildren: Sawyer McCracken, Cory Carson, Wade McCracken, Molly Carson, and Trace McCracken; nieces: Jane Powell, Pat Key, and Cindy Tallent.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 8th, 2024 from 5-8pm at Poole Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cleveland, 3000 Ralph Buckner Blvd. NE Cleveland, TN.
Mr. Crye will lie in state at East Side Church of Christ, 252 Wildwood Ave. Cleveland, TN on Saturday March 9th from noon until the service hour at 1pm with Ministers Jeff Archey and Bill Maynard officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens.
