Thomas Delano Obituary

Thomas Delano of Pittsfield passed away on July 6, 2023.

Thomas very much wanted to live. He courageously fought hard. After a successful triple bypass and recovery, months later, he suffered numerous unrelenting strokes that slowly degraded his body. Thomas slowly, painfully, melted away from us.

Thomas was well liked and loved. A humble and reserved person, The "Hail Mary" prayer was his daily private devotion.

Thomas was born on January 5, 1942. He graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1960 and then joined the United States Air Force. He gave 20 years of loyal and dedicated service. Thereafter, he worked for the Laborer's Local 473 at the Yankee Power Plant and General Dynamics.

Thomas was an avid golfer and long time member of the Berkshire Hills Country Club and the GEAA. A member of the Italian American Club and also Itam Lodge 564, where he won many Bocce League Championships. In the Air Force, he won many ping pong championships world-wide.

Thomas' parents, Philip and Louise Wilson Delano, his brother William, Richard, Philip, his sister Mary Vidala are pre-deceased. Tom is survived by Phyliss Stankiewicz and Brad Delano and many nieces and nephews.

Thomas leaves his longtime companion, the love of his life, Alba Wendling.

Please pray for Thomas that the Good Lord bless him and bring him Home.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside Services will be held, Friday, July 14, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery. A Celebration of Life and Luncheon will follow at the Italian American Club at 12:00 pm.
