Thomas Diamantidis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Westchester Funeral Home, Inc. on Jan. 2, 2026.
Thomas J. Diamantidis, 75, sadly passed away unexpectedly on December 30th 2025. Tom was born in Manhattan on September 21,1950 to James and Aristy Diamantidis. He grew up in Washington Heights where he played basketball with his many friends at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church. He spent his summers at his aunt's home in Atlantic City, biking along the boardwalk and relaxing on the beach. After turning down an invitation to attend the prestigious all-boy Stuyvesant High School he decided to attend George Washington High School "where there would be girls". After High School Tom enlisted in the Navy. He was stationed at Brunswick NAS in Brunswick Maine where he flew on missions in P-3 Orions. During his tour he traveled to many countries of which Greece was his favorite. He lived in Bermuda for a year and during that time he became a certified Scuba diver. Tom attended City College and later completed a masters degree in finance at Fairfield University. He joined Manhattan Savings Bank in the early 70s and worked his way up the ranks to bank officer. In 1989 He played an instrumental part during the merger/acquisition of Manhattan Savings by Republic National Bank. He continued to enjoy a successful career in banking, retiring as a vice president with Republic National Bank. Tom met the love of his life Lenore while working at Manhattan Savings Bank. They married at the Edgartown Lighthouse on Martha's Vineyard on May 7th 2000. They enjoyed playing golf together and often traveled to Myrtle Beach to play. In 2004 their family expanded when they traveled to China to adopt their wonderful daughter Kate. As a family, they vacationed on Cape Cod every summer. Tom was an avid golfer and a gifted photographer. He loved reggae music and relaxing on the beach. He was a devoted Yankees fan and followed the Knicks through their ups and downs. His family meant the world to him. He was a devoted, loving husband. He adored being Kate's father and was always very proud of her- being there to watch her graduate Binghamton University in Spring of 2025 was one of the highlights of his life. He loved her beyond words. He also cherished the special bond he shared with Kate's dog, Blue. Tom was an Intelligent, kind and generous man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was a positive hopeful person who always saw the best in people. He always had kind, encouraging words to say. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Tom is survived by his loving wife Lenore, daughter Kate, niece Willa and her mom Lisa Scolari, Brother/Sisters In-law Daniel and Angela Kretzschmar, and Lulinda Lloyd.
