Thomas “Mr. Tom” Droste of Allen Park, Michigan, passed away peacefully at the age of 95.
Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Sarah Droste and Alfred Droste, his brother Louis Droste, his sister Dorris Davis, and his longtime companion, Veronica Wilkenson. While he experienced great loss in his life, he carried himself with quiet strength, resilience, and unwavering faith.
A proud former member of the United States Marine Corps, Thomas carried the discipline, honor, and patriotism of a Marine throughout his life. He lived with integrity and a deep sense of responsibility — values that shaped both his character and the way he treated others.
Thomas dedicated his lifelong career to the Ford Motor Company Engineering Plant, where his strong work ethic and steady commitment reflected the pride he took in providing and contributing to something larger than himself.
In the neighborhood of Allen Park, he was known simply and affectionately as “Mr. Tom.” On warm summer days, you could find him relaxing on his back porch, soft classical music playing in the background, content in the simple beauty of the moment. He was full of personality, enjoyed a good laugh, and had a way of making conversations memorable.
Some of his favorite pastimes included boating and golfing — activities that brought him peace, camaraderie, and joy. He also cherished his daily visits to Tim’s Coney Island, where breakfast was never just a meal but a gathering of friendships built over time. The staff and fellow patrons there were part of his extended family, and he valued those connections deeply.
Thomas was one of the fairest and most honest men you could ever meet. He believed in doing right by everyone and carried himself with a moral compass guided by faith. A devoted Catholic and abiding follower of Christ, his beliefs were central to his life. His faith sustained him through hardship and was reflected in his kindness, humility, and desire to live honorably.
Above all, Thomas will be remembered for his strength of character, his steady presence, his warm laughter, and the simple but meaningful way he lived his life.
He leaves behind a community who knew him as Mr. Tom, a friend to many, and a man whose legacy of integrity and faith will not be forgotten
