Thomas Daniel “Dan” Egger died peacefully on November 12, 2025, at the age of 84, in his home that he shared with his loving wife in Beech Island, SC.
Dan was born on February 9, 1941, in New York City. His parents were Thomas Daniel Egger and Margaret Zottman Egger. He graduated from Rice High School and started work at Pan American Airlines at Kennedy Airport, which enabled him to make a trip around the world at age 21. A couple of years later, he had a blind date with Angela Agnes Schrammel and realized he had previously noticed her at a party - the “girl in the black dress that kept smiling and laughing.” Before long, he proposed to her. They had a daughter and a son, and were married for 60 years.
Dan wanted to raise his family in a more rural community, so they moved upstate and he became a truck driver. He did not enjoy it, but as a quintessential family man, he provided a wonderful home and college education for his children. When the children were grown, Dan and his wife moved to North Carolina, where he spent most of his retirement years boating on the lake and building model railroads.
Dan is survived by his wife, Angela Agnes Egger, daughter Laura Lee Sheets (Gerald Sheets), son Daniel James Egger, granddaughter Melody Marie Conant (Ian Conant), grandson Steven Gerald Sheets (fiancé Ashley Gartland), great-grandson Anthony Gerald Conant, sister-in-law Crystal Kofke, niece Heather Kofke-Egger (Carolyn Phillips), and niece Sarah Kofke-Egger (Abdulghafoor Mohamed). He was predeceased by his parents and brother James Egger.
Dan’s most outstanding character trait was his deep love for his family, especially his wife, “Ang”. Even when he was ill, he would gesture towards her and say, “I’m the luckiest man alive!” He will be greatly missed.
Services will be private.
