In loving memory of Thomas ( tj ) Engler
Thomas J. Engler, a man whose life overflowed with love, laughter, and cherished moments, passed away on April 6, 2024. Born on February 24, 1959, in Portsmouth, NH, Thomas was the beloved son of Wayne and Cecilia Engler. From his earliest days, family held the highest priority in Thomas's heart, and he embraced every opportunity to be with his loved ones.
Thomas possessed a vibrant spirit and a diverse array of interests, finding joy in everything from golf to football, poker to motorcycling, and dancing to fishing. His adventurous nature earned him the title of an adrenaline junkie, always seeking excitement and thrills. His laughter and wit illuminated every room he entered, and his strength, both physical and mental, was truly admirable.
Thomas graduated from East Meadow High School in New York, setting the stage for a successful career. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Marines from 1977 to 1983, exemplifying dedication and commitment.
Thomas was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Darlene, with whom he shared countless adventures, impromptu trips, and cherished weekend getaways. Together, they formed an unbreakable bond founded on love and companionship.
Thomas's love for family extended far beyond his immediate relatives, as demonstrated by the annual family golf tournaments and the joyous family barbecues he treasured. He was not only a loving husband but also a proud father to his children, Jennifer Brennan, Jennifer Cantara, and Jason Engler, and a doting grandfather to his grandchildren, Cameron, Casey, Westley, Addison, Ella, Taylor, and Makenzie, as well as his great-granddaughter, Wren.
Professionally, Thomas excelled as a small business owner and appliance repair technician for over three decades, showcasing his dedication, expertise, and work ethic.
In addition to his wife and children, Thomas is survived by his brothers Michael, Robert, and John, along with their families, including several nieces and nephews, who will continue to hold his memory close and carry forward his legacy of love and laughter.
Thomas' spirit will forever endure in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him. He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, strength, intelligence, and the profound impact he had on all fortunate enough to have crossed his path.
A Funeral Outside of Mass will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11:00 am at Hope Memorial Chapel, located at 480 Elm St,
Biddeford, ME 04005. Visitation will follow the service until 3:00 pm at Hope Memorial Chapel.
