Robert L. Gadbois
Lifelong resident of Biddeford
Robert L. Gadbois, 88, of Biddeford, passed away early Wednesday morning on February 4, 2026, in Biddeford. He was surrounded by family who loved him.
He was born in Biddeford on June 26, 1937, a son of Aldeus and Cecile (Ouellette) Gadbois. As a young man, he attended St. Louis High School but left in the 10th grade to work and help provide for his family-an early example of the responsibility and work ethic that defined his life. On June 29, 1957, he married his wife Simone Roy and they began a life built around faith and family that lasted until her passing in 2022.
Robert was a man devoted to his Catholic faith and love of Christ. His trust in God gave him the courage and strength to accept what would follow with a devotion and commitment few can imagine. Over the next 11 years the couple would have seven children, with one more still to come before the family was complete. His greatest joy was his family and he always placed his family before himself.
The family practiced their faith as lifelong parishioners of St. Joseph's Church in Biddeford.
Bob was from the generation of hard work and large supportive extended families. The demands of a large family required him to work many different occupations.
At an early age, Bob was employed by the family greenhouse. He also opened Majestic Flower Shop with his brother JP. As his family grew, Bob worked for the Biddeford Textile and Potter's Furniture in Biddeford.
In 1972, with a small gift from Simone's Aunt Jean and an abundance of prayer, Robert and Simone established Prestige House of Flowers. The family flower shop in Biddeford has been a staple amongst the community, offering floral arrangements and gifts for the past 50 years. When they happily volunteered for many church functions, holiday fairs and suppers they were proud and pleased to provide flowers and various decorations.
When life slowed down a bit after the children were grown, Robert and Simone were blessed to be able to travel to Europe. They took many trips which included destinations in France, Rome, Greece, Italy, and Spain. Their most memorable were cruises to the Caribbean and a River Cruise along the Mississippi. They also traveled to visit their children in Texas and Arizona, which they found especially enjoyable because they could escape the Maine winter for the warm sunshine of the Southwest.
Robert was predeceased by his wife Simone on March 9, 2022, and by six siblings, J.P., Roger, Richard, and Norman Gadbois, Theresa Bourque, and Lorraine Gadbois.
He is survived by eight children, Dolly Morin and husband Norm and their children Jessica and fiancé Warren, James and wife Jen and Joshua; Dan Gadbois and wife Michelle and their daughter Julia; David Gadbois; Diane Gadbois and her children Sean, Ian and wife Molly; Dennis Gadbois and wife Ann and their children Ryan and wife Mackenzie and Alex and husband Liuke; Denise Martin and husband Dan; Donna Tippett and husband Jeff and their children Colin and Kyle; Donald Gadbois. He is also survived by his brother, Michael Gadbois & partner Ann Neumann; by his sister, Denise Guay and husband Roger; as well as by eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be from 12-3PM Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James Street, Saco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM Monday, February 9, 2026, at St. Joseph's Church in Biddeford. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Biddeford.
