Ocean Park

Francis "Frank" W. Meehan, 84, of Ocean Park, passed away at home on Friday, February 13, 2026.

He was born in Malden, Massachusetts on August 7, 1941, a son of William and Charlotte (Rexford) Meehan.

He graduated from Malden High School, class of 1959. After high school, he served his country in the United States Air Force as an aircraft technician. Following the service, he went on to Suffolk University receiving his Bachelor of Science, class of 1971.

Frank was a self employed technical writer. He also worked as a technical writer for Polaroid Corporation and taught class at Lowell University. He retired in 2003.

Not one to sit still, Frank was a self taught carpenter. He designed, planned and built two homes. First in the white mountains of New Hampshire, another in Damariscotta, Maine before settling on a 40 acres apple farm on the lake in Jefferson where there were many more "projects" for Frank to undertake! Living on the lake was enjoyed by many family and friends. Special times were made that will be held on to and cherished forever. He will be sadly missed.

Frank spent many years wintering in Sebastian, Florida. Enjoying being on the water, he was a licensed sea captain. He took family and friends along the coast of Maine and also chartered larger vessels in the Caribbean. He was always willing to share his love of the ocean with others.

Later in life, Frank and his wife Judy moved to their forever home in Ocean Park, Maine where they loved to explore the coast and take many day trips.

He is survived by his wife Judy Meehan and sisters Charlotte Meehan, Janet Marcotte and Patty Cowhig. They are also survived by their six children Tammy Finnegan, Cheryl Davis, Sue Ann Brown, Richie Brown, Amy DiRenzo and Kenny Brown and ten grandchildren Megan, Connor, Nicole, Jackson, Alex, Addison, Atley, Emily, Lila and Andrew and two great grandchildren Zachary and Emily.

Donations may be made in Franks name and would be gratefully received by - Mercy Hospital Greatest Patient Care Fund Program at Mercy Hospital, 1440 Portland Road, Suite 100, South Portland, ME. 04106 l

Frank was one of those people who just made things better by being around-always positive, friendly, and busy fixing, building, or helping someone out. He genuinely liked people, and people genuinely liked him.

He was proud of his family, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. And the pleasure of taking family and friends sailing on the lake and stories of his adventures with Judy- sailing on the Cape, Maine and the Caribbean-always seemed to capture who he was best: engaged with people, open to experience and happiest when sharing it with person he loved. Judy

He leaves behind a lot of good memories and a lot of grateful people. I´m thinking of you and your family during this hard time.

It was by chance that my parents met Frank and Judy in Maine and discovered Frank and my dad shared similar roots. It was the start of a great friendship that had many happy times, dinners and card games. Frank was a wonderful friend to my parents and always there to lend a hand or ear. I´m sorry to hear of his passing and am sending love and peace to you all.
