Thomas Flanagan Obituary

Published by Legacy on May 1, 2025.
Thomas Joseph Flanagan Jr., 76, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, in Lewes, Delaware. Born on February 5, 1949, in Camden, New Jersey. Thomas lived a life marked by dedication to his family, a strong work ethic, and a warm presence that endeared him to all who knew him.
Thomas built a long and respected career in the food industry. He began his professional journey with Campbell Soup Company before finding his true calling with Breyer's Ice Cream. Over the years, he became affectionately known by friends, family, and neighbors as "the ice cream man", a nickname that reflected both his profession and the joy he brought to those around him.
Thomas was a devoted family man whose greatest joy came from spending time with loved ones. Whether walking along the beach, watching and yelling at sporting events or gathering for family celebrations, he cherished every moment shared with those closest to him.
At the heart of Thomas's life was his deep love for his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Flanagan; their children Colleen Bakhsh and her husband Brian Bakhsh; Meridith Flanagan and her husband Brian Hart; and Thomas Flanagan and his wife Lilly Flanagan. His greatest joy was being Grand to Aileen Everett (and her husband Dylan Everett), Kyle Bakhsh, Brayden Hart, Evan Hart, Desmond Flanagan, Katie Bakhsh, Paige Hart, and Theo Flanagan. He also leaves behind his beloved sister Virginia Headley. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Ellen Virginia Taggart and Thomas Joseph Flanagan Sr.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm at 28944 Habersham Lane in Dagsboro, Delaware.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that you honor Thomas's generous spirit by paying it forward with a donation to your favorite charity, youth organization, food bank, animal shelter, or veterans association.
May his memory bring comfort to all who have been loved by him.
