Thomas Fletcher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Myers & Smith Funeral Home & Chapel on Mar. 18, 2026.
Thomas "Tommy" Fletcher, 73, died Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Life Church with Pastor Kevin Knudson officiating. A reception will follow after the service.

Tommy was born on April 7, 1953, in Big Spring, TX to Gloria & Gene Fletcher. He was a lifetime resident of Big Spring.

Tommy graduated from Big Spring High School in 1971 and was a great football player while there. He also played baseball and any other sport he could get into throughout school. He was an avid golfer and played whenever the weather would allow. He was a member of Chicano Golf Association. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and all sports.

Tommy served in the United States Army from 1972 until 1975. He worked for Texas & Pacific and later Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer for 37 years and retired in 2013. In the years after his retirement, he found a new passion for traveling and got to visit many states and see a lot attractions he had always wanted to see.

Tommy loved spending time with family. He had numerous nieces and nephews that he loved visiting with whenever he got the chance. He was close to everyone in his family and all his friends. He never met a stranger that he wouldn't talk to and find something in common with.

Tommy is survived by his wife: Marguerite "Bunny" Fletcher of Big Spring; 2 daughters: Lindsey Fletcher & husband James Beltran of Kerrville, TX and Jamie Fletcher of Red Rock, TX; 2 stepsons: Ray Fowler of Godley, TX & Donny Brown of Big Spring, brother: Eugene "Woody" Fletcher of Big Spring; 3 sisters: Gloria "Gigi" Scott of Conroe, TX, Judy Richbourg of Haslett, TX , & Mickie McGregor & husband Johnny of Dallas, TX; sister-in-law: Connie Fletcher of Austin, TX; brother-in-law: Danny (Mitzi) Bishop Midlothian, TX; 5 grandchildren: Kala Beltran, Avery Beltran, Lauren Ryan, Chelsea Necaise, & Cheyenne Cundiff; and 3 great grandchildren. He also loved his grand dog: Duke and his special feline friend: Chester.

A special mention to his close friends: Phillip Ferguson, Larry Mize, and Mark Peters who made him smile and lifted him spiritually in his last months.

We also have the greatest respect for Home Hospice in Big Spring and especially our nurse's Genesis and LaCota. They made his final months bearable. They made him laugh and he looked forward to every one of their visits. They will always have a special place in our hearts.

In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his first wife: JoAnn Fletcher; brother: Jack Fletcher; brother-in-law: Jerry Richbourg; step-daughter: Tonya Barrick; daughter-in-law: Janice Brown; and nephew: Jonathan McGregor.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made in honor of Tommy Fltecher to the BSHS Golf Team and BS Humane Society.
