Robert H. (Bob) Moore, 76, died March 1, 2026 at UMC, Lubbock, Texas. He was born August 19, 1949 to Douglas and Velva Lee Moore in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from Abernathy High School in 1967. After graduation he moved to Dallas to attend Dallas Institute of Funeral Science and worked part time at Parkland Memorial Hospital as an emergency room orderly. Before completion of his schooling, he was drafted and enlisted in the United States Air Force. While serving in the Air Force he was stationed at Keesler AFB, Mississippi during Hurricane Camille, 535th Tactical Airlift Squadron (Caribou) at Cam Rhan Bay, Vietnam. When he returned to the states he was stationed at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico where he served as General-Aide-De-Camp before completing his Air Force assignment at the AFROTC Detachment at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. After discharge from the Air Force, he began working as a Special Agent with Republic Financial Services/Republic Insurance Group in 1977 assigned to Big Spring West Texas area. In October, 1984 he joined the staff of Nalley, Pickle and Welch Funeral Home. He returned to Dallas Institute of Funeral Service in Dallas and graduated in February 1988 where he received the prestigious Bill Pierce Award. He served as a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer until the fall of 1996 when he went to work as a Crime Scene Technician for the Big Spring Police Department. In 2005 he went back to working as a Funeral Director for Myers and Smith Funeral Home where retired in 2008 due to health issues. His education background after high school included Armed Services Education Program, the Leonard's School of Training in Arlington, Texas for Insurance Program in the Fire and Casualty Insurance, Life, Claims Adjuster Program and Insurance Management Counseling and Services, the National Foundation of Funeral Service in Chicago, IL, the Bill Bates Grief Counseling Seminar in Dallas, Texas as well as the required Department of Public Safety training in crime scene and fingerprinting technology and court testimony procedures.

He married Ila Vernice Bradford on August 31, 1973 in Clovis, New Mexico. He was a member of the 14th and Main Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Vernice Moore of Big Spring, a son and daughter-in-law, David Bradford "Brad" and Tamara Moore and grandson Ryder Moore, all of Aledo, Texas. He is also survived by two sisters, Joy and husband Bob Lander of Owasso, Oklahoma, Joyce Lundgren of Lubbock, one brother Jimmy Lee Moore of Brownwood, Texas, one sister-in-law Beth Holt of Lubbock, 3 nieces and 3 nephews.

Viewing will be Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 9:00 to 9:00. Visitation will be Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 at Myers and Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 10:00 Friday, March 6, 2026 at the Peace Chapel, Trinity Memorial Park.
