Thomas W. Getchell Sr.

Thomas William Getchell Sr. died peacefully on April 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 20, 1965, to James and Diane Getchell. He met his wife Nancy in 1996 and were married May 24th, 1997. Together they owned and operated T & N Auto for 25 years. If it had a motor, he could fix it. Tom enjoyed working with the public and helping those in need. If you knew Tom, you were his friend. Outside of the business he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing, and stock car racing.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents and many special family members and friends. He is survived by his wife Nancy; his children, Lisa (David), Kevin, T.J., Kayli, and Zac; several grandchildren including Grayson, Adeline, and Hudson who if their love could have saved him, he would have lived forever; sister, Kathy (Mark); and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all of Tom's caregivers who helped him through his illness. The staff at St. Luke's Hospice were exceptional during his last few days of life and his loved ones felt comfort knowing that they did everything they could to make his transition as painless as possible.
A memorial visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. until his memorial service at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Nelson Funeral Care in Cloquet. Arrangements are entrusted to Nelson Funeral Care.
