Thomas Richard "Tommy" Girot
Born: May 20, 1944 in Morris, IL
Died: March 10, 2024 in Morris, IL
Age 79 of Morris, Illinois died Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Morris Hospital.
Born May 20, 1944, in Morris, Thomas Richard was a son of Thomas Louis and Enes Louise (Sarti) Girot. He was raised in Morris; graduated from Immaculate Conception School and attended both Joliet Catholic High School as well as Morris Community High School.
Tommy's journey commenced alongside his family at The Canteen at Diamond International Self-Locking before venturing to Joe's Sandwich Shop in Morris, a place that eventually became his own. While there, he joined in marriage with Antoinette Bolatto. However, after selling the sandwich shop and parting ways with Antoinette, Tommy sought new horizons in Chicago. It was there that he pursued his innate love for interior design at Harrington College of Design.
A true visionary in design, Tommy found success partnering with William and Betty Purvis at PPG Design before branching out on his own as Thomas Sarti Girot Interiors until his retirement in 2017. Throughout his career, he took pride in his creations and was recognized in various Interior Design Society home showcases.
In 1977 Tommy met David Mielke, a partnership that endured until David's passing in 2004. Subsequently, Tommy found love once more with James D. Glowacki, whom he married on October 12, 2016.
A member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris and The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) - Chicago Chapter, Tommy also contributed to the community through involvement with the Lions Club and serving as a volunteer firefighter.
Survivors include his husband, James D. Glowacki; sister, Linda (Tom) Kindelspire of Morris; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law: Theresa (David) Switt of San Pierre, Indiana and Eugene (Darla) Glowacki and Rebecca (Mike) Greenlaw, both of Michigan City, Indiana; nephews and nieces: Christopher (Heidi) Kindelspire, Scott (Karen) Kindelspire, Hannah (Chad) Russell, Olivia Glowacki, Emily Glowacki, Briana (Troy) Rivera and Taylor Burroughs, and numerous great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
