Thomas Vincent Goonan passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025, in McMinnville, Ore., with his family.
Born in Queens, N.Y., and raised in Laflin, Thomas graduated from James M. Coughlin High School in Wilkes-Barre with the Class of 1985. He also attended Wilkes-Barre Vocational Technical School, where he studied heavy equipment repair. Later, he relocated to Oregon with his parents, where he began a long career with Safeway supermarkets, managing the bakery department.
Thomas pursued his spiritual calling through ministry training at Training for Reigning in Albany, Ore. He went on to serve in various ministry roles, including prayer teams, recovery groups, and outreach efforts. He played a key role in establishing Freedom House Church in Dayton, Ore.
Thomas is survived by his devoted wife of 30 years, Lisa Goonan (Farr); sons, Rocco Dominic Goonan (Maggie) of McMinnville, Ore., and Vincent Thomas Goonan (Brianna) of San Diego, Calif.; his mother, Michelina Goonan (Mifsud) of Clearwater, Fla.; sisters, Debra Miller (Goonan) of Miners Mills, Pa., and Donna Trombetta (Goonan) of Mountain Top, Pa.; niece, Tonya Burndt (Stucker) of Easton, Pa.; and nephew, George Miller of Nanticoke, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Michael Goonan Jr., his daughter Savannah Rose, and his beloved canine companion, Deacon.
In his leisure time, Thomas found joy in tending his backyard garden — often visited by neighborhood deer — caring for his aquarium of guppies and neon tetras, and painting landscapes.
Thomas's life was marked by faith, dedication to family and community, and a deep appreciation for nature's quiet beauty. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
