Thomas Gorman Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 29, 2025.
Thomas R. Gorman, known affectionately as Tommy, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the age of 18. Born in Summit, he was a lifelong resident of Chatham. His warmth, compassion, and gentle spirit touched many lives, leaving a legacy of kindness that will be cherished and remembered.

Tommy was born into the loving arms of his parents, John E. and Michele A. Gorman, who instilled in him the values of love to others. Their guidance shaped him into the remarkable person he became, and they, along with his two adored brothers, Michael and Matthew, are left to treasure his memory. The bonds of family extended to his dear grandparents, Pat Reid, Pat and John Gorman, who delighted in his accomplishments and his ever-present smile. Though preceded in death by his beloved grandfather Al Reid, the love they shared continues to be a source of strength for the family.

Throughout his years at Chatham High School, Tommy's presence was a beacon of friendship and goodwill. As a dedicated student in his senior year, he balanced academic pursuits with extracurricular activities, including wrestling during his freshman year-a testament to his determination and team spirit. His classmates and teachers alike will miss his thoughtful contributions and unwavering support.

Tommy's passion for life was evident in all that he did. He was a young man who embraced physical fitness and healthy living. His love for animals was unparalleled, especially for his dog Smokey, who was his constant companion and friend. Together, they shared countless adventures and moments of joy.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Tommy will remember him as loving, kind, and thoughtful. He approached life with a rare sincerity, always putting the needs of others before his own.

As we bid farewell to Thomas R. Gorman, we are reminded of the impact one life can have on the world. His spirit of generosity and compassion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. Though his time with us was too brief, the memories he created will be treasured forever.

The Gorman family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Tommy's legacy will live on in the countless lives he enriched simply by being himself-a beacon of love in a world that will miss him dearly.
