Thomas B. Gorman
1951~ 2025
Thomas B. Gorman, age 73, passed away peacefully at his home on November 25, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on December 30, 1951, in
Orange, California, to Bernard and Mary Louise Gorman. Tom grew up on his father's poultry farm alongside his brothers, Jim and Dan, where he learned the value of hard work and developed the steady, grounded nature that carried him throughout his life.
A graduate of Mater Dei High School, Tom embarked on what became a lifelong career driving 18-wheelers-a profession he cherished for the freedom of the open road and the community it offered. On April 21, 1990, he married the love of his life, Christina, with whom he raised three beautiful daughters.
Tom's lifelong love of cars and trains played a defining role in his later years. Upon retiring, he and Christina moved to
Tehachapi, California, where Tom became an active member of the Friends of the Tehachapi Depot in 2016. As a docent at the Depot Museum, he delighted in sharing his knowledge about the railroad, the Tehachapi Loop, and the history of the region. Whether greeting visitors or joining the Tuesday Maintenance Crew-paintbrush in hand-Tom took great pride in helping preserve a place he cared for deeply.
Among his many passions, Tom's Corvette held a special place in his heart. He could often be found tinkering under its hood, perfecting every detail with the same devotion he brought to everything he loved.
Tom is survived by his wife, Christina (née Stone); his daughters Rhiannon Smith, Molly Gorman, and Samantha Gorman; his brother Daniel Gorman; his son-in-law Henry Smith; and his cherished grandchildren, Henry and Olivia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Mary Louise Gorman, and his brother James Gorman.
Tom will be remembered for his warmth, dedication, quiet humor, and the steady presence he offered to everyone who knew him. His legacy lives on in his family, his community, and the many lives he touched along the way.
