Thomas L. Grist, Jr., 81 passed away Monday, November 11 after a brief illness.
Tom was born on December 13, 1942 to Ruth (Jackamo) and Thomas L., Sr. He was a graduate of Bessemer-Mohawk high school and an Airman in the U.S. Air Force.
After leaving the Air Force, Tom settled in Madison, Ohio with his wife Suzanne, whom he married in 1965 in Lowellville, Ohio. Tom was employed by Otis Elevator and later by The Arthur Louis Steel Company, retiring from there in 2008.
During his life, Tom enjoyed archeology, history, gaming, fishing, and hunting, though later in life, he preferred to feed the wildlife in his backyard and simply enjoy the view.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Suzanne, his parents, his brother USMC Lance Corporal William A. Grist, and his niece Rebecca Hannon.
Tom is survived by his daughter Amy, son Tom, granddaughters Alexis, Madelyn, Reilly, and Hannah, sister Lorree (Donald) Melonio, and brother Terry (Lynn James) Grist.
The family wishes to thank the staff of UH Concord Infusion Center for their many years of laughter, care and support.
Friends will be received from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m., with a prayer service from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio. Final resting place will be Fairview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Madison, Ohio.
