Thomas Allen Guinard, a beloved figure in both his personal and professional spheres, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, at his residence in Supply, North Carolina. He was born on March 5, 1947, in Kalispell, Montana, and proudly served his country as a Vietnam Veteran in the United States Army from 1964 until 1974.
Tom's entrepreneurial spirit shone through as he owned and operated several businesses during his lifetime. Most notably, he ran a small engine repair shop, a venture that he dedicated himself to until his retirement in 2016. His commitment to his work and his unwavering dedication to quality service earned him the respect and admiration of many in his community.
A devoted family man, Tom is survived by his son, Lucian Guinard and wife Sarah of Supply, NC; his son, Jason Guinard and wife Wendy of Stedman, NC; and his daughter, Emily Abbas and husband Adil of Mooresville, NC. He was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and delighted in the joy of 5 great-grandchildren. His legacy is carried on through his loving family, who will cherish the memories of his kindness, humor, and unwavering support.
Tom was also known for his love of fishing, which he regarded as his favorite pastime. Whether casting lines with friends or spending quiet hours by the water, this hobby brought him joy and connection with nature, reflecting his easy-going spirit.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janice Bailey Guinard, whose memory remained a source of strength and inspiration for him throughout his life. Tom's passing leaves a void that will be felt deeply by all who knew him.
He will be remembered not only for his contributions to his community and family but also as a man of integrity, kindness, and unwavering loyalty. The legacy of Thomas Allen Guinard, a husband, father, and friend, will undoubtedly live on in the hearts and lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
