Evelyn Guinard

EVELYN (FRANZOSA) GUINARD – of Woburn, died peacefully, September 24 th, at the age of ninety. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul L. Guinard.

Evelyn was born in Cambridge to the late Frank and Violetta (Giorgio) Franzosa. She spent her formative years in Somerville and Arlington, where she eventually graduated from Arlington High School. Following her education, she took on roles at the phone company and Lincoln Labs.

In 1955, Evelyn wed a young soldier named Paul, and together they established their home on the West Side of Woburn. They raised their children on Bernard Road, where neighbors felt more like family. Monthly card nights became a cherished tradition, and Evelyn was renowned for her warm hospitality, often hosting gatherings brimming with laughter, stories, and a strong sense of community.

She took great joy in decorating and celebrating the holidays alongside her family. Additionally, she was a passionate gardener, relishing the time spent caring for her outdoor flower beds.

Evelyn cherished her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother, delighting in sharing stories and wisdom with the younger generations. Her legacy of kindness and compassion continues to inspire all who knew her.

Evelyn's life was a testament to love, family, and community, leaving behind a rich tapestry of memories that will be treasured by all who were fortunate enough to be a part of her world.

She will be deeply missed and always remembered by her children, Karen M. Maggio of North Reading,Paul L. Guinard Jr., his wife Mary of NC, David J. Guinard, longtime companion Sarah Blake of FL and the late James J. Guinard. Loving sister of the late Frank Franzosa Jr. and Robert Franzosa. Loving grandmother of Richard J. Maggio, his wife Jessica of Tewksbury, David Maggio, his wife Brooke of CA and Andrew Maggio, also of CA . Adored great-grandmother of Elizabeth and Emily. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. Barbara Parish 138 Cambridge Rd, Woburn, MA 01801, on TUESDAY, September 30 th at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects, prior to the Mass from 10-11 in the church. Interment to follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home.
